Humble Prodigy, Considerate Backbone
Within my work, I hope the viewer is able to see through my point of view who my best friends are to me. One is an athlete, one is an organizer; I hope to convey emotions of happiness and wonder. My wish for the viewer, once seeing these paintings, is that they hope they are able to meet these girls one day, with a desire to see these characteristics shine through. I used oil paints for these paintings. I splattered actual paint on the girls’ faces, to convey the idea that a splatter of paint is never perfect; there are imperfections and it does not consist of constant straight lines. This process of splattering the paint on their faces and taking the close up pictures and painting them was all very enjoyable. Yet during the project I realized how unique each face was up close. My work reflects myself because of the people I did it with; I chose the people closest to me to reflect the way I view them.
