Bright Idea Attract Opposites Class of 2012

Inspired by modern artist Peter Max, I created a series of paintings that capture his use of shapes, lines, and bright colors that fit together to form a more creative and intricate image. For my first piece, Bright Idea, the image of the light bulb to me was a symbol for the bright characteristics of Max’s work. I decided to make it a split piece because there is more to a light bulb than the brightness; there is also darkness. For my second painting I used the words “Opposites Attract” and contrasting colors. My last piece is more personal and was inspired by my last year at Mount Alvernia. The phrase “we are young” is from a song that talks about how we must enjoy our youth as much as we can while we have it. I love the way the bright colors mix, I feel it represents all the different people in my class and how over the years we have blended together and formed our own piece of art, the class of 2012.
