Evolution of Hands

I chose to create a series of hands from each member in my family. I chose hands to represent my family because they are the most frequently used body part and the most difficult to capture. I wanted to challenge myself, but also draw using my strengths in pastels. The images I used for my pieces were captured “in the moment” and in that way, similar to the Ashcan School and George Luks. This process has completely evolved into everything I wanted it to be. . Every artist has his or her own style; I was able to develop my own personal style with pastels, and I am happy to have accomplished that.
