Irish Sand Mandala
For my independent art project I decided to make a mandala of nature mixed with my Irish heritage. I took a large wooden board, sketched out my design and mixed vibrant colors of sand to add to it. Throughout my design I drew Irish symbols, such as an Irish knot in the middle and the claddagh around the petals of the flowers. The reason I chose to make this project was I really enjoyed making mandalas with sand in previous years and I wanted to connect my project in some type of way to my history topic of tapestries in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
