Paintings and Pastels inspired by Gustav Klimt
First Previous Next Last

Symbolism and decorative art merge in the works of Viennese secession artist Gustav Klimt. Klimt and I are great friends. I admire his emotionally revealing painting-portraits and allegories all adorned with a kaleidoscope of geometric patterns and freshly picked flowers. I chose to do a study of his work for my senior art thesis. I did one portrait in oil paints, a genre and a medium in which he frequently worked. I also did copies of two paintings “The Kiss” and "Lady with Hat and Feather Boa", in pastel. Finally, I did two pastels inspired by and executed in the style of his fluid and passionate oil paintings “Nixies” and “Water Spirits”.
