Attend our Open House on Sunday, November 1, 2009, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. There will be tours of the school and an opportunity to meet the students, faculty, and parents. We encourage all prospective applicants and their parents to attend this important event.

Pick up an information packet at the Open House if you have not already done so. The packet contains an application, permission for release of records form, academic catalog, and school newspaper.

Register for the entrance examination at the Open House and take the exam on Saturday, November 14, 2009 for grades 7, 8 and 9, Saturday, December 5, 2009 for grades 7, 8 and 9.
Registering for and taking the entrance examination does not automatically mean that a student has completed the application process. This step only fulfills the entrance examination requirement of the application process.

Complete the application, obtain all supporting documents, and send the entire application package to the school by December 15, 2009. Priority will be given to applications received by that date. Recommendation forms from English, Math, language teachers and the principal or guidance counselor must be sent directly from them to Mount Alvernia High School, with priority given to complete applications received by December 15, 2009.

Applicants to Grades 7 and 8 will be contacted by letter for an interview only if the complete application package is received in the school office. Priority for interviews will be given to complete application packages received by December 15, 2009. The interview letters will be mailed on January 25, 2010.

Applicants to Grades 7 and 8 who have completed the application process will be informed by letter of the admissions committee's decision; the letters will be mailed on February 12, 2010. If a student has not completed the process and had an interview, she will not receive a letter.

Applicants to Grade 9 will be contacted for an interview on January 12, 2010, only if the complete application package is received in the school office. Priority for interviews will be given to complete application packages received by December 15, 2009.

Applicants to Grade 9 who have completed the application process will be informed by letter of the admissions committee's decision. The letters will be mailed on February 3, 2010. If a student has not completed the process and had an interview, she will not receive a letter.

All registration forms and nonrefundable seat deposits for Grade 9 must be received in the Mount Alvernia High School office no later than noon on February 24, 2010. If we do not receive a student's registration form and seat deposit by that date and time, we will contact students whose names are on the waiting list.

Students who have been accepted to Grades 7, 8 and 9 and their parents will be invited to attend the Accepted Students Night on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. This meeting will give them an opportunity to receive an overview of the academic program, speak with current students, faculty and alumnae and register for the upcoming academic year.

All registration forms and nonrefundable seat deposits for Grades 7 and 8 must be received in the Mount Alvernia High School office no later than noon March 17, 2010. If we do not receive a student's registration form and seat deposit by that date and time, we will contact students whose names are on the waiting list.

All registered incoming students and their parents should plan to attend the Incoming Students Orientation Night on Thursday, April 15, 2010. At this time students will be measured for uniforms; receive testing results, summer reading assignments, book lists; and have an opportunity to meet with various members of the Mount Alvernia High School faculty and staff.
